Freelance & Work At Home

While jobs may be scarce the world around, entrepreneurs are popping up in every city and town.  Many folks are considering self-employment, putting to work the skills, gifts and talents they perhaps have had for years.  Some are capitalizing on
hobbies or interests they have developed.  Some are coming up with new and innovative ideas.  The sky is the limit when it comes to freelancing.  If done right, it can be both profitable and fun.  But it should not be done on a whim.

Your Business Plan To Help Plan Your Business

It may sound trite, but your idea is only the beginning.  Give careful thought to your choice for a business.  Just because it is something you enjoy, or are good at, won't mean it can be a viable business.

Success or failure will be determined not only by the idea, but how well you plan things out.  Begin with a Business Plan to evaluate the potential for your business in your area.   If you don't know how, there are some good resources available to help you.  The Small Business Association (SBA) is loaded with resources.

Organization is Key

The biggest reason for a new business to fail is lack of organization. Determine if your business will it be service or product related?  Will be operated online, or cater to the community?  And don't forget to check with your local authorities to see what licenses or certificates will be required.

Knowing the source of financing is also key.  Before you invest your money, have a pretty good idea of whether or not your idea will fly.  How or who will finance your start-up costs, for things such as your computer, business cards, logo, or a website like this one built through JustHost

If you're not good with graphic design or website development, these things can be hired out.  There are plenty of freelancers who can do that for you, including some of those on www.crowdSPRING.com, whose banner is displayed below.  Then you must consider whether there will there be funds to continue and cover operating costs.
